The Subsidiary Part II

Back In the Docking Bay

Having parted ways with the unsavory Shiny Apocalypse crew, you find yourselves back at your ship, awaiting the arrival of the Rebel contact.  After the job, he said.  They always say payment comes after the job.

Night falls.  The spaceport comes alive, or perhaps back from the dead.  The listless denizens of the spaceport have roused themselves, and more than a few times you've had to turn back drunks, thugs, and escorts from your docking bay, all of a dozen different species, cultures, and sexes.

A lone figure appears at the wide entrance.   How many times have had to throw these riff-raff out?  Silhouetted by the twinkling lights of the city beyond, he slowly strides forward, drinking in the details of the battered Aeon harbinger.
'Doesn't look like much,' he says.  'But these fringer ships are always packing it somewhere.  Even if its just in the cargo hold.'

'I believe my friend asked you to give me a lift.'

Mkkt strolls forward whilst saying, "Ya seem to fit the bill a bit better than the trash that kept tryin' to come aboard. You must be Commander..." holding out his hand waiting for a response.

  2. He clasps your hand, cocks his head, scrunches his nose, as if he is wrestling with the concept.

'As the Alliance are the main benefactors of this mission, I must inquire as to your own identity first.

I want you guys to take some more command of the narrative instead of adopting reactionary positions, or ending solely with statements that bring things to a halt without my response.

The spy thing was a perfect hook and you guys tried to avoid it, ya know?

This adventure is for you guys! Grab a hold of it!

  3. [Rezurah]

Rezurah stays back with her arms crossed coldly while saying in a stern voice,
"I am Rezurah, the pilot of this vessel. This is Mkkt, the ship's weapons master."
"State who you are and the contact that sent you here."

    [OOC]

Just in case I fall asleep when he replies I also want to ask him if he is the only cargo or are we waiting for more to show up.

Also I am not 100% sure if this statement from Rezurah was what you were looking for as far as taking command..( I am kind of dumb sometimes when it comes to hints, so if I'm not doing something well enough dont hesitate to call me out.)

What I mean is that you are more proactive than reactive. Like with the spy, you notice and you guys are like 'Hey a spy. Lets just leave.'

Instead, being more narrative would be to walk up to him and intimidate him, or let him know you know and using your skills, or smashing his hand with a glass, or pulling a blaster and shouting to the bar that you will kill anyone who mentions this meeting or anything that is more than just passive.

Or it could be speaking directly to a statement instead of just 'Pleased to meet you' like above. It could be 'Pleased to meet you,' and as you ask, roll a perception to see if anyone is watching, or roll a persuasion to try to win him over or intimidate him, or whatever or anything than just a simple, passive response to what is given to you.

Like I said, the spy thing was an opportunity for roleplaying, not something to just walk away from. Thats why I wrote something badass for the pirate, as an example.

  4. 'The direct approach. Very good. I am Commander Ved Duthsen. Surely Captain Blund'erra notified you of the parameters of the mission? I am meeting on behalf of the rest of my squad, to verify your identities as our transport. I only wanted to ensure that your were reliable and that my men were not in danger.

'You seem to be no-nonsense folk. I will notify the rest of my squad, and we can be on our way.

  5. The man departs, only to arrive again sometime later with 6 other beings in tow, dressed shabbily and unkempt.

'My squad is ready to depart, whenever you are. Is there anything further you wish to know? if I can, I will answer your inquiries as to the mission.'

Mkkt says to Rezurah, "You can go ahead and make way fer Neti II; meanwhile, I'll find out a bit more about the mission."

Mkkt turns back to Commander Duthsen, "So tell me a bit about the planet? What's down there fer ya?"

    1. I'm at work right now, so my responses may not be as elaborate as expected. Also, may ask for my stats. Don't have my sheet.

    2. [OOC]

See my post above about being more proactive with the narrative. Maybe roll a knowledge, or just pretend like you've been there before or have heard of it and introduce some knowledge about the planet.

    3. [Mkkt]

We approach the planet after a few days of travel. The planet seems strangely familiar to Mkkt. Mkkt then asks Commander Duthsen, "Where, exactly, on this planet are we headin'? I gather we're tryin' to get ya to this place unnoticed." Once stated, the crew will proceed to the planet and make way for the destination.

      [Tech]

Knowledge +1 to remember specific traits about the planet

Gather Information +1 to determine where to land from what the commander tells me. If it's an big city; landing bay. If it's a desolate area and our destination needs be sneaked into; land a little ways away, out of site

    4. Reflecting upon your travels, you remember visiting Neti II in the company of your old Black Sun employer.

The second planet in the Neti system, Neti II is a Jovial planet upon which gas used as a component in ship coolant is mined and condensed. As such, the air itself is extremely volatile and caustic, requiring nearly all species to wear hazard suits in the open atmosphere.

Due to its industrial significance, it is no surprise that both Black Sun and the Empire control their share of industry on the planet.

Cities are self contained environmental units designed t protect the populace from the dangerous environment. Due to its industrial base and lack of tourist interest, society is extremely Spartan in nature.

Duthsen describes a spaceport in the southern hemisphere used to export shipments. It is an extremely busy, heavily trafficked port, and he trusts that the concentration of traffic will obscure your presence.

      [Tech]
Knowledge +1 [19+1=20!] You remember the info above and can make remember (make up) one other fact about the planet, to reveal to whomever you wish.

I didn't roll a gather info since you could just ask him where to go, and he would tell you.

  8. [Mkkt]

Once landed, Mkkt opens the boarding ramp to let the crew out. Before the commander and his crew set off, Mkkt discusses the plan with the commander. "Commander, whats next on the agenda? We just droppin' ya off, or ya got more in store fer us? If not, I suppose this is goodbye."

Ok, slow down here a bit, you guys are sort of jumping ahead of me. I'll continue this in the next post. Lets rewind a bit and begin as you exit hyperspace, since just straight up landing is going to be more complicated than that. I don't think you guys even mentioned taking off.
