BOUND: A Dungeon World Play-By-Post

Listen to this: http://youtu.be/pvVFnj2MB3I?list=PL655630834F8A9237

You are THRONE.

The UR-MOTHER, suffering no dissent, has cast you, Her First Borne and Coveted Creation, from Heaven and has rent you asunder.  You have vague memories; utter damnation, falling to earth, shattered into countless pieces.  The soil and water have mixed with your divine essence and have changed you, though your divine essence remains.

Your soul scattered, you have enough residual consciousness to know your self.  You mingle amongst Humans but you are not one of them.  While they live short, meaningless lives, you have endured, and endure you shall.  Pieces of you have manifested the WILL.  The WILL drives you to seek the parts that were lost.  You are drawn together.  You can feel your own presence.  YOU WILL BE WHOLE ONCE MORE.

Your quest: To reunite with your shattered self, and manifest your lost Divinity.  Perhaps when you are whole you will remember your crime.  Will you seek forgiveness?  Or will you enact Revenge?

Perhaps only the Ur-Mother herself knows.  Perhaps even she cannot divine how your Fates are entwined.

The Game

BOUND is a Dungeon World campaign.  You and your companions are BOUND on a fundamental level: you are the shattered essence of the Archangel THRONE.  You roam the land and delve into places deep in search of your lost essence.  You were powerful indeed; each piece has manifested a will and a physical form.  All seek to dominate, but you aspire to regain your former glory.

The World is harsh, and you are hard pressed equipped to navigate it.  This is your punishment.  Your greatest enemy will be your own shattered self.  Demons will prey on your weakened form.  Lesser Angels will seek to end your quest.  Humans are ignorant and full of fear.  The World IS the Dungeon.

Character Creation

Character Creation follows standard Dungeon World Rules.  However, disregard the normal Races and think about how your divinity manifests its physical form.  How does it influence your choice of Class?  How does it affect your Bonds?  What do you look like?  What has brought all of you together?

If you can, submit a picture of how you envision your Character!

 Collaborative Storytelling

You are pieces of an extremely ancient and powerful being. Take control of the narrative using your WILL.  You can use WILL to detect nearby pieces of yourself, to know information about a dungeon, or to demonstrate Angelic Knowledge and Power.

Every time that you take control of the narrative and contribute an idea or are in anyway proactive about the story, I will add 1d6 to your Divinity Pool, or 2d6 if you really get into it, providing a map, images, or extensive Lore.

Your Divinity Pool acts as a mechanical representation of your Angelic Nature.  As you add to the pool, you may at any time opt to use any number of dice in the Pool.  The highest values rolled of all the dice will be used when you make your Move.

That being said, the Fiction is the most important aspect.  Think about your character and how they react to the situation.  Take time to think about and flesh out small details and breath life into the world you are exploring.  Be proactive about inventing new Dangers or NPCs.  Make it interesting!  This Story should be awesome!

Example:  Ernest wants to use Hack and Slash against the Death Knight.  After he narrates his action, he rolls 2d6 to Hack and Slash, and adds 1d6 from the Divinity Pool.  So, he will actually roll 3d6 and take the two highest rolls.

Leveling Up

You will gain XP as normal (whenever a 6- is rolled), and also whenever you manage to defeat another BOUND creature.  When you level up, describe how your manifestation changes, or how you are growing in divine power.

 Post Format and Rolling

I will start by posting an article describing the situation in which you find yourself. Images may accompany the text, to help you imagine the scene. After I post, you can then respond using the comments. Tell me what you’re doing, what your character is saying, and even feel free to delve into their thoughts. Be creative and expressive. You’re responsible for keeping track of your health!  I will respond to your post with a comment of my own, giving you feedback. At a certain point, I will post a fresh new main article. You then post your comment to the current article, NEVER to the old ones.

I will roll all dice and inform you of the results.  I will try to find an online Dice Roller you you can do it yourself also.

Writing Style

Write from a third-person perspective, present tense, underneath your BOUND's name:

[Salah]

Salah says, “Asps. Very Dangerous. You go first,” and he nudges Indy to proceed into the chamber.

[Tech]

Use [Tech] to give me the specifics of a moves mechanics, as well as any stat bonuses you get when making a move

[Ooc]

For “out of character” (OOC) chatter. Anything you want to say that your character is not, comments, strategies, observations, whatever.

Posting

I don't expect this to be super time consuming, but post at least 2-3 times per week. Lack of posting will make you the target of danger or death!

Get your characters to me as soon as possible!

Remember, each class is unique! So, only 1 Fighter, etc.  Pick 2 so you have a backup in case someone claims a class before you!

Let me know if you have any questions.
